Newcomers Club - Selected Charities for 2025-2026
Our Board has proudly chosen to support the following charitable organizations for 2025-2026. Money raised through our fundraising efforts will be distributed to these organizations at the close of our year. One-half of our funds will go to the President's Choice, The other half will be equally divided and distributed to the Board's selections. A brief description of each organization follows: *Click on the Charity below to find out more information about the Charity President’s Pick Neighbor-to-Neighbor: Mission: To provide access to the community for adults with disabilities, older adults and veterans through transportation, pantry delivery and connection. They connect volunteers, community professionals, and funders in designing, developing, and implementing programs that impact the independent living needs of our adult community. They provide volunteer transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, pharmacy visits and other errands, social service appointments, barber/beauty ship appointments, and other life sustaining or life enhancing appointments or events. They are designed to help our neighbor who is homebound due to age, disability, and or chronic illness in Horry and Georgetown Counties. The Board chosen charity: Children's Recovery Center: Mission: To provide a safe environment where caring team members investigate allegations of child abuse, while providing the support necessary in restoring hope in children’s lives. Their objective is to provide a safe place where children who are victims of abuse can receive a coordinated child abuse investigation. Children receive a forensic medical exam, forensic interview, advocacy and education. Each child is assigned a child advocate who will ensure they are kept safe and that their rights are protected. CRC wants children who come to the center to grow from child abuse victims to strong healthy survivors. Purple Bucket
As our new year begins, we have decided to renew the Purple Bucket Collection. Each month, at our Coffee meeting, we will pass a purple bucket around for your voluntary contributions to the registered charitable organization selected by the Board for that month. Note: The Purple Bucket Collection is strictly voluntary. Your support is deeply appreciated. If anyone has any questions about our charities, or if you would like information on volunteering to help at any of these choices, please contact Peggy Suggs at 843-742-5588/ 540-878-7712, or peggy.suggs@comcast.net |
